The first half of Albany Road was constructed from 1898 onwards. By 1902, 26 homes were occupied and this property was the home of James Fear (labourer) with neighbours of John Bence (mason) and Alfred Offer (weaver). Mr Bence was one of three masons living on the street at the time and other local industries were also heavily represented with textile workers (four) and railway staff (four) amongst the house owners. The remaining western half of the south side terrace was constructed concurrent with the Albany Works (F Chivers & Co - 1910) and we suspect the road was re-numbered at that time.
