At the turn of the 20th century, this land was adjacent to the site of the Bath Brewery (then Weston Maltings), which had its own siding onto the old London Midland & Scottish railway that ran to the north in the cutting opposite the quarry. The Avon Park estate and its compatriot Rudmore Park across the railway line (named after Rudmore Farm) was planned out in the early 1930s and appears on local maps from 1932 onwards.

Avon Park is located on the Western outskirts of the City of Bath. A popular residential area, local shops including hairdressers, florist, bakery, coffee shop, supermarket, delicatessen and chemist are nearby in bustling Chelsea Road, with further amenities available in Weston Village.
