This property first appears in occupation records in 1900 as the home of Charles Adams (baker). From 1905 to 1911 the occupant was Herbert Jones, a G.W.R signalman/relief man. Further residents prior to World War II included J.H Morris (decorator), Thomas Wood (scaffolder) and Charles Edward Goodridge (farrier).

Electric trams in Bath started running on 2 January 1904 with the last passenger tram on Saturday 6 May 1939. Bath Tramways route No5 went from the Guildhall over the old bridge into Oldfield Park to the Cynthia Rd terminus adjacent to this property. To enable the trams to run under the railway bridge in Westmoreland Rd, six single deck cars (nos 50-55) were operated on this route whereas all other city routes used double deck trams.
