Up to the late 1800s, the Englishcombe Lane area was entirely farmland (Sladebrook and Stirtingale Farms) barring The Moorlands. Building around the turn of the century added market gardeners cottages to the west end of the road and more substantial homes around Sladebrook Farm. The next stage of development added Edwardian villas from the Bloomfield end of the road. Between the wars, the middle section of the road took shape as part of the Englishcombe Park development. The first occupier of this property is listed as Ralph Harris in 1935.
