One of three roads in Bath ( the others being the now lost Stanley Rd which led from Manvers St to Newark St and Stanley Villas in Camden) named after Sir Henry Morton Stanley, GCB - a Welsh journalist and explorer famous for his exploration of Africa and his search for David Livingstone. Stanley also participated in the American Civil War and, due to a variety of unusual circumstances, was quite possibly the only Englishman in history to serve in the Confederate Army, the Union Army and the Union Navy.
The occupier in 1895 was George Hodges (carpenter) with Frank Keevil (wood carver) and Laurence Goodland as neighbours.
