Right on the parish boundary between Walcot and St Michaels, Ladymead House was used in the early 1800s as a Female Penitentiary and Lock Hospital and a Victorian Chapel in 1845 but still has remnants of the 17th century formal gardens that graced what is probably one of the oldest surviving houses in Bath. Originally Cornwell House and named after the Cornwell spring which flowed out across the road to the river through the site.

HALL Panelled front door from communal halls, fuseboard.

SHOWER ROOM Low level W.C, heated towel rail, pedestal basin, corner shower cubicle, part tiled walls, extractor fan.

STUDIO Two front windows with secondary glazing, two electric panel radiators.

KITCHEN AREA Base and wall units with granite worktops and inset sink/drainer, inset electric hob, fitted oven, cooker hood, fitted fridge/freezer. Utility cupboard with plumbing for washing machine and pressurised hot water tank.

COMMUNAL GARDENS Ladymead House has large private gardens for residents' use, which run down to the banks of the famous River Avon. There have been historical gardens on this site since the original house was built. There are lawns, fruit trees and deep flower beds and - once outside of the gate and on the banks of the Avon - views up and down the river. If you are lucky you may even catch sight of the local otters.
