Williamstowe is an almost secret little cul de sac off the east side of The Avenue, right in the heart of Combe Down village. The first houses (ten semi detached homes on the south side of the road) here originally date from the mid 1880s (commissioned by the widow of the late Rev Williamson to create comfortable homes for Combe Down's working men). The Combe Down tunnel of the old Somerset & Dorset light railway is directly under the road junction with the Avenue, albeit far below the surface.

Local village shops on The Avenue are just 3mins around the corner, North Road/Prior Park bus routes (no2) are just across Firs Field and walks in the Monkton Combe/Limpley Stoke valley are accessible via Summer Lane.
